CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

OUR SOCIAL PURPOSE

At Mazda we want every customer to develop a close relationship with our cars, and our company. In today’s world that also means sharing our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals and making them central to everything we do. We align all aspects of our day-to-day work with our CSR principles to benefit our communities, our planet and our collective future.

QUALITY

From our beginnings more than 100 years ago, Mazda has always strived to offer the best made vehicles on the market, so drivers stay with us their entire lives.

Our relentless focus on quality is shared by every employee, who we empower to make their own, individual efforts to improve their workplace and the systems they use. To create cars that provide an exceptional driving experience, we rely on our intrepid engineers who do the impossible on a daily basis. And we cherish our designers, who’ve created the most unique and joyful vehicles on the road, with an artisan’s careful attention to detail. While offering best-in-class service for our customers’ existing vehicles, we continually make stable and speedy quality improvements so they can count on even better cars every time they purchase a new Mazda.

SAFETY

One of our primary goals at Mazda is to achieve a safe and accident-free automotive society.

To that end, we’re developing more advanced safety technologies under the Mazda Proactive Safety Philosophy. Since drivers are human beings, and human beings are fallible, we offer a range of i-Activsense technologies which help to prevent or reduce the damage resulting from an accident. One example is a collision damage reduction brake, to suppress acceleration when a driver uses the wrong pedal

Another is the Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA), which alerts the driver if it detects a vehicle approaching from the right or left front blind spot at an intersection. Driver Monitoring estimates the degree of the driver’s fatigue and sleepiness with a driver monitoring camera and warns the driver to take a break with a display or sound. Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) helps reduce the driver’s fatigue when driving on a congested expressway. Finally, the Co-Pilot Concept is a human centred self-driving technology that allows the car to take over driving whenever the driver becomes unresponsive, then pulls the car to safety and calls emergency services. By 2025 we want to make our Co-Pilot Concept standard in all Mazdas.

ENVIRONMENT

Mazda will strengthen its investment in the environment, to fight climate change and to enhance road traffic safety.

LEARN MORE

To that end, we launched Sustainable Zoom- Zoom 2030 – an ambitious blueprint for reducing our carbon emissions until we reach full carbon neutrality in 2050. We’ve been working on next-generation biofuel replacements for fossil fuels, electrification and reusable technology for EV batteries. We’ve reduced our environmental impact through our Lifecycle Assessment approach that accounts for the environmental impact of vehicles – from the purchase of materials to final disposal.

RESPECT FOR PEOPLE

Our goal is to have our cars exist sustainably with the earth and society, so that people can enjoy fulfilling lives through cars.

ACHIEVING A SAFER AND ACCIDENT-FREE SOCIETY

We continuously evolve basic safety technologies, such as the ideal driving position and pedal layout, excellent visibility, and a focus on the human machine interface, exemplified by Jinba Ittai, human-centric design that creates a feeling of oneness between human and car.

SOCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

To create a lasting relationship with customers, Mazda takes into account all touch points – from before a customer buys a Mazda to after they let go of it.

GIVING BACK

In addition, as a company operating in Canada, we want to give back whenever we can make a difference. A recent example is our Local Heroes program, which supported small businesses as they made a comeback after the financial devastation wrought by the global pandemic. An ongoing program is Mazda Canada’s continuing support of 360°kids, helping vulnerable and homeless kids in York Region with counselling and assistance.
