The 2018 MAZDA6: Powerful design and engineering
For 2018, our flagship sedan, the Mazda6, sees a roster of design and engineering enhancements that make for a human-centric connection to the car and a powerful ally on the road. A newly designed interior, a new available turbocharged engine and a refreshed exterior design come together to create an inspiring vehicle that enriches time spent behind the wheel.
The first thing we did to ensure that Mazda6 drivers get the vehicle they want is to change the structure of trim levels. Gone is the GX model, and alongside the previous GS and GT models, we’ve added a GS-L luxury model and a Signature model boasting Nappa leather seats, Ultrasuede® and Sen wood accents and a Top View Monitor (TVM).
Starting at $27,000 for the GS and up to $38,800 MSRP for the Signature trim, these four models now offer two engine choices and upgrades.
Standard on the GS and GS-L model, we’ve paired the Skyactiv-G 2.5 L engine with a Cylinder Deactivation system. With Cylinder Deactivation, in steady-speed situations such as highway cruising, two of the four cylinders automatically deactivate to help maintain great fuel economy. And as soon as you put your foot on the gas pedal, all four cylinders are firing again to give you added power when you need it.
We’ve also paired our Skyactiv-G 2.5 T Dynamic Pressure Turbo Engine with the GT and Signature models (also optional on the GS-L model). The 2.5 T engine achieves turbocharged power, outstanding low- to mid-range torque and excellent fuel economy. Its performance is dynamic, responsive and agile.
Outside, the 2018 Mazda6 has a newly designed front grille that accentuates the look of depth, a low centre of gravity and a wide stance. New, sleek headlights create a bolder impression, while the new Soul Red Crystal Metallic paint deepens the vibrancy of the previous Soul Red paint.
The Mazda6 interior has been completely revamped for 2018 to express a mature elegance. The instrument panel has been tweaked to enhance its human-centric functionality, the Colour Active Driving Display is now projected right onto the windshield. New seats have wider cushions with thicker padding, and ventilated front seats are available on the GT and Signature models – perfect for hot summer days.
New technology offerings include a Top View Monitor (Signature model), an 8-inch display screen for the Mazda Connect system, at TFT display (Signature model), Stop and Go functionality on the Mazda Radar Cruise Control system (MRCC with Stop and Go) on the GS-L, GT and Signature models and a front wiper de-icer, that no Canadian can live without.
The refined beauty and dynamism of the 2018 Mazda6 is specifically designed to reflect the owner’s lifestyle, values and sense of style, enabling drivers to spend quality time in the Mazda6 with family, friends, or just enjoying the drive alone.
