The CTS is a system that reduces fatigue for the driver by providing simultaneous headway control and lane-centering assistance. Some vehicles equipped with the CTS can also monitor driver responsiveness while the system is in use.
The CTS has the following 4 available functions.
Constant speed/Headway control function
The function performs headway control to maintain the distance with a vehicle ahead at a constant preset speed without you having to depress the accelerator or brake pedal.
Steering wheel assist function
When vehicle lane lines are detected, the function assists your steering wheel operation to follow the vehicle lane lines.
When vehicle lane lines are not detected, the function assists your steering wheel operation to follow the trajectory of the vehicle ahead.
Lane Change Assist
The system assists the driver with the steering operation when changing lanes by the driver operating the turn signal.
Unresponsive Driver Support
Unresponsive Driver Support is an emergency function service available under certain conditions during the CTS operation.
If driver unresponsiveness is detected by way of the driver monitoring camera through head position and eye gaze (see Driver Monitoring, page (Search)) or lack of steering wheel torque, screen displays and a warning sounds are initiated. Alerts escalate if the conditions persist. A lack of response to the escalating alerts can result in vehicle deceleration to a stop, the activation of the vehicle’s hazard lights, and the initiation of a call to emergency services through a paired mobile device.
