Using the Towing Hooks

If the towing eyelet is equipped in the vehicle, it may be used to remove your stranded vehicle from the road while rolling on its own wheels.

Do not use the towing eyelet to pull a vehicle out of a snowbank, ditch, mud, sand, or other conditions from which the vehicle cannot be driven out under its own power.

When using the towing eyelets, always pull the tow strap or chain in straight direction with respect to the eyelet. The eyelet should not be used to secure a vehicle when towing it on a tow vehicle. Never apply a sideways force.

If the vehicle’s wheels cannot rotate, standard wheel dollies or similar equipment may be used to move the vehicle. Wheel dollies should only be used to move the vehicle over short distances and smooth surfaces such as within a garage, parking lot, or onto a tow vehicle not for long-distance towing or road transport.

  1. Remove the towing eyelet, the lug wrench and the jack lever or equivalent from the luggage compartment.

Do not use excessive force as it may damage the cap or scratch the painted bumper surface.

Remove the cap completely and store it so as not to lose it.
