Do not shift the selector lever with the accelerator pedal depressed.
Otherwise, the vehicle will suddenly accelerate which could lead to an accident.
Perform selector lever operations with the brake pedal firmly depressed and the vehicle completely stopped.
After stopping the vehicle, make sure that you are aware of the selector lever position before re-accelerating.
If the vehicle were to move in the unintended direction, it could lead to an accident.
After stopping the vehicle, check the selector lever position with the shift indicator before depressing the accelerator pedal.
Do not allow the vehicle to move in reverse on an upslope while the selector lever is in forward drive, or move forward on a downslope while the selector lever is in reverse drive.
Otherwise, the hybrid system will stop, causing the loss of the power brake and power steering functions, and make it difficult to control the vehicle which could result in an accident.
Switch the selector lever position appropriately according to the direction in which you want to move the vehicle.
When parking the vehicle, shift the selector lever to the P position, apply the parking brake, and do not leave the vehicle power ON.
If the vehicle is parked with only the parking brake applied or with only the selector lever in the P position, the vehicle may move unexpectedly and result in an accident.
When parking the vehicle, shift the selector lever to the P position, apply the parking brake, and then stop the vehicle power OFF.
When reversing the vehicle and looking over your shoulder to check the rear, be careful and make sure the brake pedal can be firmly depressed as your driving posture will have changed.
Do not shift the selector lever to the N position while driving.
Otherwise, it could result in the loss of the engine braking power and cause an accident. In addition, it could damage the transmission.
Completely stop the vehicle before shifting the selector lever to the P position.
If the selector lever is shifted to the P position before the vehicle is completely stopped, unnecessary force will be applied to the transmission which could cause damage.
Avoid using the accelerator pedal and the brake pedal at the same time.
The transmission could overheat and lead to damage.
On roads with high driving resistance such as deep-snowy or sandy roads, or on steep slopes, a high load is applied to the transmission, causing excessive heat generation. If the transmission is close to overheating, the output will be limited, which could lead to an accident.
Therefore, drive the vehicle paying attention to the following points.
Stop and hold the vehicle on a steep slope with the brake pedal, not the accelerator pedal. Do not use the accelerator pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
Start driving the vehicle in the D or R position according to the direction of travel (avoid starting in manual mode).
